For section V class AAA and AA, i have put together some of the best players from teams im familiar with and what they bring...feel free to add players, agree or disagree.

Fairport-

Adam Dejean He is a very hardworker who doesnt get credit. i have seen him play and he sets a great pace and is smart.Brendan Saylor- BOY! this kid can run. he is very fast and talented and is my pick easily for AGR
Kyle Metcalf- kind slow in athletics, however he makes great saves and is a good 1v1 goalie. this team, lost some big time players last year, however they are still expeirenced enough to have a great season.

Athena

In my thoughts athena will win sectionals this year. they have many leaders and gifted players. Nick garcia will AGAIN prove to be unstoppable and will lead this time. the team also has scoring threats from small but tasty guan luca cuomo. also two strong defenders include brandon hank and chris dean. athena has never won sectionals as far as im concerned and with the dedication these boys show i think they will win.

Thomas

i think its time for thomas to fall down from the top. The team has easily the most talented player in the class (tim crawford) however as good as he is, it will not b enough to win sectionals as he is the only impact player i see as of now.

schroader.

slowly they are getting better and better. However this year i dont think the talent will be enough to stop teams like athena and etc... however the team does have a young Ryan lotzar who doesnt rack up much stats but is impressive to watch.

Penfeild

BOY! this team used to be good. frankly i do not see any players that will make a big impact on the team this season.

West Irondequoit

Most teams in AAA and AA lost a good sr. class however irondequoit is gaining a good senior class. last year they only lost steve tomsic who had 9 goals and sam kennedy. This team can be a shocker in AAA and AA sectionals. my son plays on a team in RDYSL and we play Irondequoit. They did not do good in school however they have some players that are good. Matt carazo is deffienelty a big time player that should step up. However his attitude needs improvement (the games i scouted irondequoit he got a red and yellow). him and another forward joe aratari work very well together and should be exciting to see. Joe Aratari did not stack up many stats last year, however he is very talented and a small speedy player, who needs to just work on basic finishing skills.

call me crazy but i think irondequoit will face athena in AA finals, but athena will win.

Please post comments if i forgot teams as im sure i did..i cant scout every player and every team!

Solid review overall. However I'm trying not to be a homer but I do think Fairport will win sectionals. They lost only 2 starters from last years sectional final, and return Saylor, Dejean, Metcalfe and plenty of others. They have a lot of experience and I think this team could make a legitimate run in the state tournament.

Thats a fair statement, they are very talented and have been in the spotlight before, i just love picking underdog teams such at West irondequoit. However in AAA i do think fairport will win.

I really think you have to consider Churchville and Spencerport when you talk Final Four teams in AAA and AA respectively this year. McQuaid and Athena are probably the front runners in AA followed by Thomas, Spencerport, Brockport, W-Irondequoit and Canandaigua. I expect Thomas and Brockport to be back in thick of things based on the strength of their programs and solid coaching they have.

CC is good, but they are always inconstant, and Spenceport is very good in the back however i do not see much threats attacking wise. Mcq will be great with baker and company, alot of the team does empire so they play great soccer no matter what. Athena and garcia will be a great team with hank and dean being solid in the back and having the little kid (forgot the name) and simone attacking with garcia. and the goalie is great. Thomas will always be great because they are used to winning and are well coached. Crawford will have to work double to get his team to a tittle however. (he is my pick at POY) brockport lost some key players so it should be interesting to see them. West irondequoit did not loose much of a senior class, so maybe they have some upcoming guys that can stir things up? and im not too familiar with canandaigua

It will be a very hard season and a great one to watch! almost ever big team in aa and aaa has a star or two on their team and those will be the teams to watch. i do not think Tim crawford can lead his team to another tittle. he is deffinate AGR and d1 potential however after reidys absence it will be sure impossible. Mcq is indeeed looking promising with garcia and all. they dont seem to have weaknesses. CC isnt really all that inconsistent however, they are very good with andy schuler, dino banskis, alex pavone, and colin borgus. webster shcroader is a good team, with brody duncin and ryan lotzar, and others. penfeild has difrancesco and iv seen him play in a tournament before. he is very agressive ad doesnt give up easy.Brockport lost great players but they should still be good. spenceport will be fine in scoring options, and they have a great defense and one of the best goalies around. west irondequoit has Matt carazo, and Joe Aratari who create scoring threats on a daily basis. also from games that iv seen irondequoit play against my son, if there sweeper Vincent baccari has not graduated then they should be well ancored in the back.

all in all class AA and AAA should be exciting to watch and i hope to catch as much games as i can!

Fairport in my eye is a very good team. they did lose 3 players a forward a midfielder and a defender from there final game but return AGR choice saylor, honerable mention Metcalfe and 3 monroe county first team members. the man thing in is who will assist saylor up top, there is a senior who played outside mid last year they could be up top or a jr. who capt. the jv team last year even though he made the varsity team, there are questions about his toughness but i'm sure fairport will figure it out before there first game on the 2nd

I think its going to come down to who has the better keeper because both teams got guys that are gonna produce some quality shots

not just keeper...the reasons teams get shots is because of the opposing teams defense, mid and forward. and also both teams have amazing goalies! as far as fairports defense i am not to familiar with it. however with deajean in mid, and saylor up top they will get plenty of opportunities. then athena... with hank, and dean playing strong D, they still have garcia who will be the strongest in the center in AA, then luca, and then simone uptop...the game will be a great one to start the year.

Athena's D is pretty strong. They have a lot of team speed, Garcia and Simone can go for days. I can see Athena winning this game 2-1 or 2-0

me to. however in leauge play it will b hard for AAA class teams to stop fairport...does irondequoit have a a D, or thomas, rush, schroader, penfeild etc...?

Fairports D includes Brad Fitter, Steve Scovner if i'm not mistaken, as well as others. Only lost 2 starters from last years sectional finals vs. Webster. Should be a solid year for them

One of the only teams not mentioned so far is Hilton. They lost all but two of last years starting squad, and 14 seniors in total, to graduation and will be young. Only 3 of this year's seniors saw regular minutes last season. Three juniors have varsity experience as well and they picked up a sophomore transfer from Churchville who should see significant minutes at MF. When this year's team was at the JV level two years ago they finished something like 9-5. Granted that doesn't mean too much now but if they stay healthy and gel quickly they can be a bit of a sleeper.

woah woah woah you dont see any players on penfield making a difference this season? they probably have the most skilled core in the section! their only weakness is size
