As I'm sure you all heard yesterday Tiger Woods was beaten in the PGA by Y E Yang. Yang ranked 110th in the world heading into the week. I read this morning someone called this the biggest upset in sports history.

I disagree on this, but would love to hear others opinions. What do you consider the biggest upsets in sports history. Any level, any sport.

The Greatest Upset in
College Basketball History

#1-Chaminade knocks off Ralph Sampson and VIRGINIA,December 23, 1982 The NAIA school had an enrollment of 800--or about as many students as Virginia had in the brass section of its band. Chaminade had only taken up intercollegiate basketball seven years earlier, and had to share its campus with the bigger St. Louis High School. Final score: Chaminade 77, Virginia 72.
Within hours, the mainland was waking up to one of the biggest upsets in sports history

#2-Buster Douglas Knocks out Mike Tyson

#3-#8 Denver Nuggets knock off #1 Seattle SuperSonics 1994 NBA Playoffs (1st time in History a #8 beats a #1)

Hands down the biggest upset in the history of sport occurred on February 22nd, 1980. The miracle on ice. The u.s. with a bunch of amateur college players defeated the soviets who were gold medalists in 64 68 72 and 76. A team of amateurs who had played together for roughly a year beat a team of proffesionals, some of whom who had been playing together for over 10 years. After first losing by a score of 10-3 to the soviets, only months later did the u.s. shock the world by defeating the soviets 4-3. I can go in to more detail but I don't think there is really any arguing this.

However Appy St. beating Michigan has to be near the top of this list. Those two school aren't even in the same division of football.

I agree on the miracle on ice being in the top 2 or 3. Chamanade over UVA doesn't get as much play as it should, because it took place in November. That's pretty high too. Douglass over Tyson has to come in prett high too. For a final 4 game I'd say N C state over Houston has to be pretty high too.

As soon as a 16 seed beats and 1 seed in the college basketball tournament, that'll be at the top of this list.

i would say if the cards won Superbowl 43 that would be in the top 5...but Pittsburgh was a little to much

Of course. I thought Warner got that last pass off too.

Don't agree with this either. Golf is such a close skill sport with a lot of luck involved also. A number 110 ranking is still awesome. On any given day someone can rise up and have a good day when the comp has a bad one. He actually beat Tiger a few years ago. Tiger is however, the most consistent player ever.

George Mason's entire run to the Final Four, including them defeating Michigan St., UNC, and UCONN along the way. That is the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to upsets for me anyway.

If You are going by odds it would be way back in the 1900s i think 1919 could look it up but to lazy right now, but Horse racing Man o war lost to a 100 to 1 underdog.
