Can Fairport repeat? Or will the rest of the contenders: Churchville, Schroeder, Hilton, Penfield or RH make a run for the title? Who's the sleeper in this class?
Fairport returns Brendan Saylor in the midfield and Adam Dejean. Team leader Kyle Metcalfe is back in goal. Do they have the star power to make or break a Sectional Title run?
The Contenders:Churchville made a deep run in sectionals last year, has a proven coach and some returning goal scorers in Dino Banitskos, Andy Schuler and Alex Pavone. Apparently their top GK from last season, Junior Colin Borgus has left for Europe, but the team is pretty confident in Ken Clar who played well filling in for Borgus last season. Can Schroeder or RH build on the success they've found the past few seasons? What does Hilton have? When will Penfield return to their glory years? Can Gates-Chili with a new coach make a run?

Fairport on paper is the easy pick, how can a school with 2000 kids in it to pick a team from ever lose a game. I can't believe they had a 10 year drought, but with a soft class AAA the last 2 years have moved back on top. They have great numbers and plenty of players back from last year to keep them at the top of the class and Coach Busaini won't let them forget it.
Churchville is the new team in Class AAA after playing in Class AA the past few years. I saw the upset over McQ last year in Sectionals and they proved they can adjust to any situation. Coach Raftery has proven he is one of top coaches, and with the what he did against McQ last year was great. The loss of the keeper is going to really hurt, but Schuler is a great player and should have a breakout year.
Schroeder and Rush had the best years possible in the past 2 decades, but it was a weak class. Will both teams be able to repeat what they did last year, I'm not sure playing in the East division is going to help come sectional seedings. I look forward to seeing both teams and where they are in a few weeks.
Hilton graduated to many players and Gates is like watching a cat chase its tail. Maybe the coach can get them back into a competitive situation.

gates just doesnt have what it takes to win games in this division..
fairport will deffinitly make it to the finals in sectionals again, question is: against who?
penfield has a few talented players in swanger, mounnaraunt, and difranchesco, but not enough physicality when it comes down to it
r-h might be seeing a rebuilding year ahead with the loss of prokou and harling.. the young guns coming up do not have enough experience to carry them
churchville can very well beat any of these teams, its just a matter of which cc shows up; the cc who beat mcquaid and tied webster thomas or the cc that lost to iq and arcadia? consistancy will make or break them..
have not heard much about hilton unfortunately, so i will not try to sum them up until i have seem them play
schroeder could make some noise, you never know..
as for edison and jefferson, well.. sorry

Hilton lost a total of something like 14 seniors to graduation. Three of this year's seniors and three juniors saw regular minutes last year and they picked up a sophomore transfer from Churchville who should see regular minutes. When this year's team was at the JV level two years ago they finished something like 9-5. That's not too significant now but if they stay healthy and gel early.....who knows:)

Fairport is always a good bet, and they will have another strong year this year, though aren't quite as good as last year.
CC plays very direct, but doesn't have enough technical players to make a good run.
Schroeder...... no comment
R-H always a tough team to play, but I dont think they have it in them this year. Not enough talent.
Hilton is more athletes than soccer players, though they are not a bad team. Middle of the pack this year for them.
Penfield is very very technical, but small. Assuming their key players can stay healthy, they are the biggest threat for Fairport to repeat.
Gates, Edison, and Jefferson.... better luck next year

Fairport will win this hands down. Saw RH they are a hard working side but just dont have the talent, very direct & unimaginative. Fairport have a good keeper & have solid players. They may not play the prettiest football but they are effective & athletic. I liken them to the good Bolton teams who went forward played early balls into the box & fought like hell to score. Another thing they play on turf now & sectional finals are on.. Turf.

Is their turf anything like the turf at PaeTec...errr...Marina Auto Stadium? I assume it's nowhere near as soft considering it's a football field first. The turf at MAS tires you out a lot more like you get on a thick, soft grass field than does the turf at ER or McAvoy, which are really hard surfaces.

the field is very similar to that at paetec or whatever you would like to call it. they also get atleast one practice a day on it which i dont see how that could hurt them
