Looks like C-S is in line for a couple of early tests in this one. Having almost complete turnover from the team that won states - Crane and Wright the only two who played in the state tournament - it will be interesting to see how this team adapts without a real proven scorer or leader.

This tournament should give a good look at how C-S will fare later in the season, but getting a split with the likes of Newark and Geneva involved should probably be considered a good first step towards maintaining the excellence the program has come to be associated with.

How does Newark and Geneva look this year? Will they be meeting in the finals?

Newark lost 6 seniors and are expected to return 6 as well. The best of the bunch is 6'4" YKeem Overstreet a shot blocking and rebounding specialist, if he improved his offensive game over the summer he could have a big year. Tyshun Stephens a 6'2" Junior guard will be asked to do the bulk of the scoring. Seniors Ian Reed (6'0) J.D Thomas (5'9") Schuyler DePauw (6'0") & John Archibald (6'1") are the other Returnees.

Geneva lost leading scorer Torrell Northrup along with 4 other seniors. 7 players are expected back along with a very good J.V team. 6'4" Ray Wiggins is the tallest player expected back. Other Returnees 5'8" Jr. Derious Thomas, Sr. Dom DiDuro (5'8") Sr. Mike Reale (6'1") Corey Begly (5'11") Mike Sapp (5'11") & Jeremiah Allen (5'8")

Year in and year out Geneva & Newark are two of the top teams in Class A, so no matter what they have coming back I can assure you they'll be prepared and will likely be very competitive.
