ND Defeats Elba

ND keeps rolling as they soundly defeated rival Elba and completed a perfect 14-0 Genesee Region season record. It was a great high school basketball game. The enviroment in ND's gym was unbelieveable. Both teams played extremely hard and in the end the ND guards did Elba in. The presuure that they placed on Elba all game really showed in the fourth quarter. Boccicho played another terrific game and so did both Francis boys. Elba, as most teams have done to ND, played a 3-2 zone to stop Geise. This certainly limited Geise's oppurtunities, but that open up the middle and Ryan Francis and Boccicho hit numerous shots in the center of the zone which really hurt Elba. Then at the end it appeared that Elba had fatigued, turn the ball over numerous times and then made a number of fouls which led to the final margin.

Again, a great high school rivalry game with great emotion and great student/fan energy, and at ND it sounded like 5,000 people in the building not 500.

I agree with everything you said, except that Elba played a matchup 2-3 zone, with the wings extended, rather than a 3-2. As a result, ND's guards were able to attack the gaps and really take it to Elba. ND is going to be tough to beat and if teams want to beat them come Sectionals, they're going to have to eliminate the penetration and force ND to beat them from the outside. Easier said than done, however.
