The Hammondsport/Bradford game is not part of the tournament, that's Steuben Counties version of the "Toilet Bowl" they'll play again Thursday I believe

I like the tournament format, wish Finger Lakes West had one. Not sure how it would be done with 9 teams though.

I've heard of other 9 team leagues get another school, usually not a very good one, to commit to play a game or two against the 9th best team. It certainly is exciting and would be great to see some kind of culminating tournament. I'd love to hear feedback from the Steuben teams whether having to schedule all those subsequent non-leaguers is an advantage or a burden.

It's called the C2 Sectional tournament. More seriously though, playing the same teams 3+ times in one year would be counterproductive. I would rather see the teams play in 1 or 2 in season tournaments against unfamiliar foes. Of course 2 in season tournaments would require a move back to 20 games and I am not holding my breath on that happening.

this is why i question the Steuben county teams who schedule non-league games with other league teams. In the SCL you play each team once. Last season Prattsburgh and Hammondsport played 4 times. 1 league game, 1 non league, in the 1st round of the county tournament and the 1st round of sectionals. Pburgh won all 4 games. 6 of the 10 teams in the league are in the D1 sectional bracket.

Playing the same team 4X in one season would be difficult to stomach. Unless you win all 4. I would love to see the FL West play Wayne County 2X again if we go back to a 20 game schedule. It was fun to watch and created a playoff atmosphere. It also gave the players some bragging rights.

Has anyone ever held a JV tournament for the small school league winners? I believe it would be great to send a representative from each league to compete in a few games over a single weekend. It would be a reward for a good year and something special for the younger players. Play it the weekend before sectionals start.

I could see teams from Wayne County, Genesee, Livingston D3, FL West, Allegheny, and Steuben leagues having a great weekend. Top 2 teams, record wise, get a bye in the single elimination tournament. 2 games Friday and Saturday, final on Sunday.

Nice big trophy for the winners to keep in their case for the year!!!
