This should be fun - many former players to track at DI, DII and DIII.

Erin Nargi - Bonaventure

The St. Bonaventure softball team lost two games on Wednesday afternoon in the Rebel Spring Games Tournament in Kissimmee, Florida.

The Brown and White lost a 4-0 decision to Valparaiso in their first game of the day and did not fare much better in the second contest, falling 1-0 to Northeast Conference member St. Francis (Pa.).

With today's two losses, the Bonnies spring record drops to 1-7 on the season as they continue play in the Sunshine State. The second game of the afternoon would be an even tougher contest to swallow after the pitching effort the Brown and White received. Freshman Erin Nargi took the mound for the Bonnies and pitched a gem, going seven innings allowing two hits and one earned run while striking out seven. The lone run surrendered by Nargi came in the bottom of the fourth inning, when junior Jamie Dixon stepped up and smashed a solo home run to give the Red Flash of St. Francis (Pa.) a 1-0 lead.

Earlier in the tournament: With today's two narrow defeats, the Bonnies fall to 1-5 on the season as they continue play in the Sunshine State. In the first game against Tennessee State, freshman Erin Nargi got the starting nod and pitched very well in her first collegiate start. Nargi threw a complete game allowing only five hits and one earned run while striking out five on the day. and another sec V alum at Bonnie: freshman Ashley Nowak reached base twice on a single and a walk for the Brown and White.

Earlier, in Bonnies' only win of the tournametn over Farifield - - - - In the fourth inning with the score still tied at 0-0, the St. Bonaventure bats came alive. After junior Stephanie Narde was hit by a pitch to load the bases, freshman Ashley Nowak stepped up and drove in her first collegiate run with a single to bring home Sullivan and give the Brown and White a 1-0 lead. Senior Kathryn Pazda kept the inning going with a two-run single driving home both Kotz and Narde to bump St. Bonaventure lead up to 3-0. Nowak would make the score 4-0 when she scored later in the frame on a wild pitch.

Not a bad debut for a freshman pitcher against a nationally ranked team. Note the wild pitch and hit by pitch stats. Nerves maybe? Looks like Bri may be #1 on the depth chart at Plattsburgh.

I wonder if Bri is going to get called for illegal pitch (leaping) in college? she certainly did it a lot at AQ but never seemed to get called for it. I heard she did get caught in some travel tournaments.

Santos, Russell & Stahl - NAIA Northwood (Florida)

Northwood is an NAIA School in S.E. Florida and they have these three freshman recruits form our area: Jackie Russell (Athena), Alyssa Santos (Nazareth) and Jessica Stahl (Aquinas). Northwood looks to be a young team, these three are getting lots of innings, and is 7-16 to date. Lisa, Jackie and Jessica are #1,2,& 4 in batting (avg.) and Russell has a 1.00 fielding %! Santos is batting .515 w/ 3 HR and .773 slug %! All three doing Sec. V proud! Check out Team Stats

they are 2-13 now but i think that will change. Oakfield's former pitcher Mary Bostwick pitched some good relief innings in the first couple games of the season. She also had her first collegiate strikeout in her first game. THe bonnies just arrived back from florida a couple hours ago and look to start practicing again for thier games this weekend.

update Bonaventure

http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/...tive-stats.pdf Bona is struggling - only 2-13 for the year, 0-2 so far in the conference. Erin Nargi is getting lots of innings (and losses) but with an era of 2.31 over 36 innings pitched it appears her defense is letting her down. She has 35 K's. Mary Bostwick has had one start & scattered 5 hits over 4 innings with 1k and 1BB. Ashley Nowak is 3 for 18 at the plate over 9 games (.167) with 1BB and 1 HBP. Bona's offense is strugling too, team hitting is .165 This is a young team but growing up fast - go Bonnies - we're pulling for you.

unfortunately for Ashley, she has also struck out in half of her at bats. Outside of win/loss, Erin is actually having a very good start to her career - good era, good k/bb/hit ratio.

Are they playing any road games in or near the area? Buffalo maybe? If so, dates? Thanks.

here is the link to their schedule - either Buffalo or Bonas is the closest they will

get to Rochester.

http://gobonnies.cstv.com/sports/w-s...tbl-sched.html

By the way, Alfred is off to a school record start - I think 14-0 - with two MCC alumni leading the way, along with some other strong local players. If anyone is wondering why Holly S.'s name isn't showing up, she is actually studying abroad this semester.

Also, you want to see how deep Victor's team was last year? Last year's backup pitcher Kocher, who I think only got three starts behind Nargi last season, won her first start for Nazareth College, striking out 9 - not bad for a HS backup! She and Liza Nazarenko will make Nazareth a tough team to beat.

That is great about Alfred. Who did they play? Did they go to one of those strong fl tournaments?
